undo accidental camera moves in maya

i just couldn’t believe that there’s no undo for camera movements so i digged a bit in the manuals and there we are: go to view > camera settings > undoable movement. from now on you can undo any accidental (and that happens just every now and then when you’re in the wrong viewport) camera movement with ctrl+z or edit > undo from the menu. you can also access this setting through the attributes editor of a selected camera, under movement options. but this has one severe downside: for example if you’re in component mode and just made some small adjustments and you want to view the change from different angles, you’re also undoing your component changes. so there must be something else which by the way i really like in 3ds max where you can undo the viewport and the changes on the model separately by default and all attached on the z key. there are two commands you can find in the hotkey editor called GoToNextView and GoToPreviousView which i set to ctrl+shift+z and ctrl+alt+shift+z so i have just everything about undo on the z key (the existing hotkeys with the brackets just didn’t work for me no matter what keyboard settings i used). with these 2 commands you can control viewport and object changes separately. this way i have my workflow back i was having in 3ds max.

‘[' and ']‘ should undo your camera moves by default :)

you’re absolutely right. i just had some troubles accessing those keys because of keyboard setting issues. but nevertheless thanks for pointing me out to those hotkeys.

Why while in Maya 8.5, when altering some attributes in the attributes editor, control+z does not respond, unless you move the cursor out from it and click in somewhere else than the attributes editor ?
