i’m really excited that the vfs offers me the possibility to use pixar’s renderman as one of the industry’s leading rendering solution for my short movie. at first sight renderman looks easy to understand, well integrated into maya and all terms used in the render settings dialog are clear, the defaults make sense. one thing i stumbled on first was the positive fact that i didn’t have to turn off my subdiv proxies of my objects as the just aren’t rendered at all. finally no render stops just because i forgot to turn them off (again). i also registered at pixar’s support forum so i can read & learn from topics being discussed at the moment. oh, and digital tutors delivers some interesting e-learning material.
