vray framebuffer on & maxscript render() = emtpy image

lately i was in charge of setting up a small rendering workflow for a 3d project and i put together some scripts to render out the results. since i used vray as my production renderer as usual, i came across a small issue with the render() command: everytime i rendered an image with the maxscript render() command while having the vray framebuffer turned on the resulting images were completely black (no object, only the background). this was definitely driving me mad for a while so i asked in the vray forums if this is a bug and whether there’s any workaround. the solution is quite simple, as vlado states: “you need to use the ‘split render channels’ option in the vfb if you want the final image to be saved. another option is to just put any name as image output in the render scene dialog.” well then, that worked; my headache disappeared.
