genetica: a giant leap forward

spiral graphics recently updated their texture lab tool genetica to 2.5 featuring extremely useful tools which make the heart of any 3d graphics designer pond louder: effect maps, normal maps support and color renders are only a some of the great new features. game developer magazine summarizes: pros: very useful, more fun to play with than an erector set and lincoln logs combined, learning to get more from procedural textures without sacrificing exisiting texture sets. cons: the nested menus and button placement sometimes require a trip to documentation hell, the package’s depth can be overwhelming, more addictive than world of warcraft (hu, a con?).
