model a wire

wire sample for mini tutorialjust a mini tutorial for modelling a wire: in shapes, select helix and create one (use the same radius for radius 1,2). in rendering, set renderable and display in viewport to true, choose array in the tools menu and turn on the preview for your convenience. in rotate (totals) set 360 and 1d count to about 6. now play around with radii and the thickness of the wire strings.

as soon as you have your ideal result, make your object “unique” by right mouse selecting the helix in the modifier and choose ‘make unique’, after this group the strings together. now you can deform this object easily by creating a spline and then choose the appropriate modifier.

matthias von rohr also points out, that blur studios have a script in their blurscripts package which can be used to make a whole bunch of wires.
